Join the SSA, EAA Band

The SSA Band is a volunteer organization composed of current employees and retirees -- from SSA, other Federal agencies, and the private sector. Our Director is Mr. David Silberberg. We love music, and we love to perform for others.

We play concert band music when we perform: marches, show tunes, and various easy-listening arrangements. Many of the melodies are well-known to our audiences. We perform in and around the Baltimore Maryland area.

We entertain a variety of groups from senior citizens to SSA employees. We do not charge for our performances because this activity is a community outreach service sponsored by the Social Security Employees Activities Association, Inc.

We typically practice every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. in the Central Office complex in Woodlawn Maryland. Current SSA employees are given administrative clearance for both practices and concerts held during work hours. Parking and temporary building passes are available for non-SSA employees.

If you have an instrument that's gathering dust in your attic, closet, basement, or garage, brush it off and join the SSA Band.

For further information, contact Leroy Brandimore, 410-965-8769 or Dan Bridgewater, 410-965-3298.

SSAA Officers Needed

SSAA needs members, who are able to come to SSA Headquarters in Woodlawn, to volunteer to become officers and to provide other services to support the national membership. We did not have an election for new officers in 2005 as no one was willing to assume the duties of president, vice president, etc. The current officers will continue to occupy these positions until SSAA is able to find someone else to run for these offices.

SSAA Office Support Volunteers Needed

SSAA needs volunteers to support the national members. These volunteers process applications for membership, renewals of membership, update the computer records, organize trips, organize luncheons and perform other clerical duties to support SSAA. Our volunteers also support SSA's blood drives and other SSA needs. When you volunteer with SSAA, we will obtain approval for you to come into the building and arrange for a parking permit for you.

If you are interested in volunteering, you can call our office on Tuesday mornings at 410-965-7433
